And the journey begins…

Our arrival into Hong Kong late last night was very hot and humid, so finding out our budget hostel had air con was good very news, considering it was still 32*C at 10pm. Staying bang in the centre of Tsim Sha Tsui, we were greeted with neon lights and bustling streets, but, after a 24 hour journey the last thing we wanted to do was go exploring. After lying in bed trying to sleep for 12 hours and managing about 4 in total, this morning we decided to get up and see what all the fuss was about. We took the Star Ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, the air was unbelievably muggy, so after going for a wander through the Western District, a quick visit to the Apple Store to buy our spanking new MacBook Air and taking in the views of the Victoria Harbour, we decided to head home and get ready for ‘A Symphony of Lights’ along the Avenue of the Stars.

Arriving at the harbour about 6.30pm we watched the skyscrapers come to life with lights as it got darker. As we awaited the light show which began at 8pm, we could smell something amazing, it was coming from a little stall selling something named Butter Cuttle, we decided we needed to try the harmless looking snack. All I can say is someone could have kindly informed us it was grilled squid before we ate it!!

Anyway, the Light Show was lovely and the view from the Avenue of the Stars was breathtaking, so after a few poses with the bronze statue of the legendary Bruce Lee, we decided to go and sample some of the local cuisine in Hillwood Soho…

Less than 24 hours into our trip we now have a case of food poisoning on our hands, let’s just say it wasn’t the best food we’ve eaten!! McDonalds for breakfast??

Eeeeek! So pleased you’ve managed to post already! Can only imagine how amazing that place is after visiting Thailand. Aren’t the sounds and smells amazing?

I suffered terribly from food poisoning when i was in Thailand too, don’t hesitate to get to a DR, a quick course of antibiotics sorted me right out!

Take in everything that yous possibly can and I eagerly await your next post!
